BIO
I have been involved in music since the age of 7 when I began piano lessons, followed by a short summer of mandolin lessons at my grandparents, then back to piano. I studied percussion in jr/sr high and in college, even majored in it for almost 2 years. I dropped out of college and got married, had a baby, then re-entered college focused on music therapy. It was the first time I really felt a real career was available, that was attainable.
I finished my degree in 1994 from Texas Womans University in Denton, TX. I did a 6 month internship in a physical rehab facility in Ft. Smith, AR and moved to Milwaukee, WI for my 1st two music therapy positions. In Aug. 1996 I returned to Texas and worked at North Texas State Hospital for almost 10 years as founder and director of the adult population music therapy program. I had to stop working due to health issues in 1995 after 9 years there.
I have played drums/percussion in a variety of settings including orchestral, jazz, ragtime, marching band, percussion ensemble, country music, classic rock music, Christian music, operas and musicals, pageants, and pep rallies. I have played piano, guitar and bass in a few settings as well, not as many.
I have played in several praise bands and led the music worship services on several occasions.
I began to write music in the late 80's; however I didn't perform or record them much because I could never find anyone to sing them. After my training, I just started to sing them myself, and there were years I wrote several, years I wrote none. I had a divorce, single parenting for 5 years, remarriage, 2nd baby in 2000, and several moves during all this.
I am married to a wonderful man since 1997, have 2 wonderful girls, ages 22 and 10 and do music as a hobby when I can.
Life is fun! Enjoy the ride, and God Bless you!
